FUNKY EXPLOSION – The Sound of AFN is back!

Friday, October 2, 2026 | from 7:00 PM
LOCI LOFT Berlin | Oraniendamm 72, 13469 Berlin

On October 2nd, things will get funky in northern Berlin: The Funky Explosion returns to the LOCI LOFT and brings the legendary sound of the 70s and 80s back to the dance floor.

Anyone who likes funk, soul, disco and electrofunk should mark this evening on their calendar. Behind the turntables is DJ Baade, known from the Berlin club scene and from venues such as Pal Joe and La Belle. And here, they actually still play live: with real vinyl instead of playlists and streaming. Musically, it's a journey back to the era of the legendary AFN sound, which significantly shaped the nightlife of what was then West Berlin. On the program are grooves and classics from Earth, Wind & Fire, Chic, Kool & The Gang, Cameo, The Emotions, Funkadelic, Zapp, G.Q., One Way, and many more. Early electro and rap sounds from Grandmaster Flash, Whodini, or Newcleus are also a must. Especially cool: DJ Baade regularly integrates original recordings and voices of the AFN radio DJs of that era into his sets. This makes the party a musical journey through a special piece of Berlin club history.
